DIRECTOR

Producers have from the start played a fundamental role in the music industry, but whereas the majority of them used to be exclusively behind the scenes, these days, the most successful are stars in their own right.

One such burgeoning star is founder of Soundscape Studios, Chris Charalambides. One of the most widely known producers on the Island of Cyprus — and certainly the most inventive and consistently successful — Chris has built a career on combining a spontaneous approach to versatility, not conforming to any particular style of rhyme or concept, and by becoming artistically known for his sharp ear and ability to predict the next big thing in music.

Chris believes that “as a creative artist you must find the things in your life that keep you connected to music and always have faith in yourself, and music is a service which has been given to us by some uncontrollable force”,

He is a curious paradox of contradictions; very influenced by Brian Eno, a man famed for his experimental musical productions, a background stemming from rock star appeal [plays in a critically acclaimed band, Waterblack – an alternative rock band that has enjoyed many online accolades] and a jet setting lifestyle that saw him gain valuable experience in recording / music composition and production in the musical hubs of two continents; Australia and Europe.

As he says “I knew that music production was something that needed time to develop and just doesn’t happen overnight. You either 'have it or you don’t'. And so when i believed that i had sufficient experience under my belt, i decided to go back to Cyprus and open my own professional recording/production studio.”

Unlike some contemporaries, Chris views success not only in financial terms but more importantly in artistic terms, and can be likened to a pioneer who holds “the blueprint” for the recipe of success. He speaks about the music industry as a whole losing relevancy, and believes there are “no correctly structured record labels, which deal with everything from song writing, recording, production, video production, album release, national and international promotion, artist management, therefore most talent leaves the island to find a more professional place for them in the industry.” And that is where his future Record Label (2012) plans comes in; alongside the newly built Soundscape Studios (2013), it will fulfill the niche in the market, catering for the global scene and offering services of internationally acclaimed excellence.CHRIS C 1B
